OPPORTUNITIES FOR LIFE
Opportunities for Life needs YOU. A girl facing a difficult decision regarding the life of her unborn baby needs YOU. A baby whose mom is thinking about abortion needs YOU. YOU can help her AND her baby. Opportunities for Life, is the Kentucky Catholic Church’s ministry to abortion-vulnerable women and men. Volunteers offer hope and resources to callers who find the courage to seek our help. Helpline volunteers answer the helpline from their homes at times that are convenient for them. OFL will be offering training workshops in your Diocese to prepare volunteers for service in this life affirming ministry. For more information contact OFL at 1-888-496-3638.
Volunteers are needed for direct service to children to share in family life activities. The DCCH Center for Children and Families has opportunities for you to share “home life” with the children in Residential as a surrogate family or mentor. You can share your time, personal talents, and life changing experience as wise guides and mentors to children in need. You can also volunteer to do a one-day group project such as painting, yard work, or you can provide fun activities for Foster Care and Adoption Support Group once a month in the evening. Contact 859-331-2040 or www.dcchcenter.org to get information on volunteer options. Twitter and Facebook DCCH Center too!
You are invited to the Spiritual Motherhood of Priests
For our Diocesan Priests, Deacons and Seminarians
You can become a Spiritual Mother and adopt a Priest-Son!!! There are only three things required:
Eucharistic Adoration, weekly (If you already have a Holy Hour each week there is no need to do more). Just add your Priest-Son to your prayers during your Holy Hour.
Three short prayers each day for your Priest-Son, a card will be given to you.
It is recommended to receive the Sacrament of Confession frequently.
That is all there is to it!! So simple!! So easy!! No meetings and no cost!!
Your only meeting is once a week with God during Eucharistic Adoration as you pray for your Priest-Son.
A short ceremony will be available in the fall for those who choose to become Spiritual Mothers: to pray the commitment prayer before the Eucharist, receive the blessing to carry this out, and receive their Priest-Son’s name. If you are interested in becoming a Spiritual Mother or have any questions, all you need to do is call one of the numbers below for more information.
